Dr. Reece Malone (pronouns: he/him/siya) is the CEO, founder of Diversity Essentials. He is a certified sexologist and holds a Masters of Public Health and Doctorate of Human Sexuality. Dr. Malone is a certified sexuality educator and supervisor through the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors and Therapists, and a Florida State certified sex therapist.
From 2008 to 2017 he served as the Education Program Coordinator at the Rainbow Resource Centre (Winnipeg, Manitoba) specializing in public education and consultation on sexual orientation and gender identity in the health, education, social services, and corporate sectors. He also served as the Transgender Health Program coordinator at Mount Carmel Clinic (Winnipeg, Canada) to establish programs and protocols for clinicians and administrators when working with transgender populations. He’s been a consultant to several local, national, and international bodies including the World Health Organization/Pan American Association, The Public Health Agency of Canada, and the Canadian Human Rights Commission.
Dr. Malone is the author of ShoutOut Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Transphobia and Heterosexism. In its second version, ShoutOut has been distributed to more than 100,000 youth and adolescents across Canada since its first publication in 2011.
Collaborating with Mariotta Gary Smith, Marla Renee Stewart and Dr. James Wadley, he is the co-editor of An Intersectional Approach to Sex Therapy: Centering the Lives of Indigenous, Racialized, and People of Color, published by Routledge Press. His second book, Fundamental Concepts and Critical Developments in Sex Education, with co-editors Dr. Tracie Gilbert, Dr. Catherine Dukes and Justine Ang Fonte, is to be released in 2024.
Dr. Reece, along with his research colleagues, Dr. Robin Westmacott, Matt Francino Caron and Holden Conner, is a recipient of the George and Fay Yee Centre for Healthcare Innovation award for patient engagement research as well as a Manitoba Medical Services Foundation grant recipient for examining healthcare barriers and mental health outcomes experienced by gender diverse Manitobans.
He has served on the Ethics Advisory Committee was the co-education chair of the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors and Therapists, and has served on the Education Committee of the Canadian Professional Association for Transgender Health. He is one of the founding members of the Sexual Health Educator Network (Winnipeg). Nominated by the Canadian Centre for Human Rights and the Manitoba Employment Equity Association, he currently sits on the Human Rights Committee of Council for the City of Winnipeg.
